Hmm I just want to make sure we are on the same page. This could be a bug but that's how it is right now. Where would you like to see more tooltips specifically (we are currently working on the next UI update)? Great to hear! We have some further changes to the pacing at the start of the game, I feel we can still bring the players into the various mechanics quicker. Originally posted by Barrel Smash Studios: There are some really cool things the further you get! You even get upgrades for the wisp that collects your energy, giving it abilities to shoot projectiles, heal and buff characters. By the time you are in Chapter 3 you have a big range of spells, characters and upgrades to choose from. Then shortly after that your first combo spell. Level 11 unlocks your first challenge (this can be quite difficult, you can skip and come back) The pace in Chapter 1 is a bit slower than we would like, but you will keep getting new things and mechanics as you go. You are quite early in the game, after the evolution mission you get access to the spell book which gives you full details on the spells, evolutions etc (see the spellbook screenshot on the store page). I've completed maybe 10 maps or less.Ĭan you try disabling controller auto-detection in the game options and let me know if that helps? If your controller isn't turned on it shouldn't be showing gamepad controls though, let me know if it still is because the game is designed for mouse & KB first. Right now I'm at the 1hr mark and I've just discovered the ice spirit things that are an evolution of the water spirit things. I didn't write it there like that but that was what I meant. What I meant was that all the controls displayed on the screen are for a controller even if I'm using a keyboard and a mouse. If you read (and can trust in any sense) user reviews, it seems like the game starts to require strategic shifts, particularly with respect to the boss battles. What are you missing? There are configurable controls in the settings. Originally posted by malnourish:It seems like keyboard and mouse is full-featured to me. I'm a huge PVZ fan and getting a "sequel" for it does sound awesome which is why I wanted to see what this game is about. It's not terrible by any means tho right now it feels like an okay game. I'm at the point where I should decide what to do with the game. However I do like that I don't have to click on the energy falling down. As a whole there's nothing wrong with it except every single level does this same formula. You fill your back row with "flowers" and front with walls. Keyboard/mouse was mentioned in a pop-up message.įrom the strategic side Riftbound does suffer from the same early game syndrome as plants vs. It does not recognize that keyboard even exists. Some minor things include the UI being fully tuned for a controller. I suppose I'd have to try to figure out it from the hp bars I get when I mouse over enemies? Do the upgrades, or evolutions, in general just increase damage or add some functionality like slowing down? Is this upgraded water elemental 10% more powerful, 50%, 100%? The icy spirit shoots icy bullets but I can't see what they actually do. I don't have any information about upgrades for example. The toon will be unable to buy the crafting recipe for Vestige of Origins, as the quest “Untangling the Sigil” is a prerequisite for buying that recipe.Riftbound does have its sides but some things are weird to me. The toon will never get the grappling hook for Korthia, making it impossible to get the western lost relic, pull Relic Breaker, or travel to the Vault of Secrets island while in the rift (which is super unfun if there’s a Riftbound cache there) Not being able to restart chapter 4 to complete it means: My guess is the reason this happens is because when you start the quest, Bonesmith Heimir is replaced with the Vision of Bonesmith Heimir, but when you abandon it, the original Bonesmith does not return. If you do the campaign skip for Korthia (and skip the first 3 chapters), and then start the Chapter 4 quest, but for some reason abandon it (personally, I found it annoying to have the quest flags on the map for a quest I didn’t think I’d do, until I realized how much it unlocks), you cannot pick it back up and restart it. This is an issue that’s been reported on before (I first learned of this bug when submitting a ticket about a quest I couldn’t start), but bringing it back:
